Lewis County General Hospital Looks To Upgrade & Expand

Posted: Updated:

Lewis County General Hospital wants a $22 million upgrade and expansion to move forward. But first it needs to secure the funding.

The hospital is in the process of applying for a state grant that would help build an addition for an ambulatory center, surgical services and outpatient care, as well as adult day care rooms, a walk-in clinic and behavioral health support.

The hospital is requesting $16 million from the state, with the rest of the money coming from hospital operational funds and a capital campaign with a $1 million goal.

"We're an anchor institution in Lewis County, so let's make sure we maintain that status so this will have an exciting impact on economic development. If everything goes according to plan, the shovel will go in the ground the Spring of 2019," said Gerald Cayer, CEO of Lewis County General Hospital.

The hospital is holding a community meeting to get input and feedback from the public on the project. It's on Monday, February 26 at 6 p.m. at the hospital.
