Canton - Thomas R. Logan, 62 of Riverside Drive, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening Feb. 27, 2018 at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Friends and family may be received on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Church in Madrid with Rev. Doug Lucia officiating. Interment will be held in the Parish Cemetery later in the spring.
Thomas was born on August 7, 1955 in Potsdam the son of Ross H. and Theresa (Hayes) Logan, he graduated from Potsdam School. Thomas was employed at SUNY Potsdam until his retirement from the maintenance department after 30 years of service in June of 2003.
On December 4, 1976 he married Martha Nichols at the Newman Center in Potsdam. They were blessed with two children who are survived by him, Kelly Logan and Chad Bradley of Potsdam, Katheryn Logan and Jason Curran of Madrid, his mother Theresa Logan of West Potsdam, and three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Caleb Froats and Evan Bradley. Also surviving Thomas are two brothers, Tim Logan of Oswego, NY; Joseph and Brenda Logan of Canton, NY; and two sisters; Mary Ellen and Paul Platz of Lowville, NY and Maureen Logan-Daniels of Pittsfield, MA along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father and a sister in-law, Deb Logan.
Thomas was a past member of the West Potsdam Fire Department during the 1970’s and 1980’s. He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed the summer weather, and he especially enjoyed the time spent with his brother Joe and his grandchildren. Thomas enjoyed plowing snow, cutting wood, and hunting with his brothers in-law.
