Alexandria Bay Man Pleads Guilty In Motel Arson

Posted: Updated:

A 42 year old Alexandria Bay man has admitted to setting fire to the Boardwalk Motel.

Francis Babcock appeared Wednesday in Jefferson County Court, where he pleaded guilty to third-degree arson.

Babcock set fire to the Boardwalk Motel on September 13, 2017. No clear motive was ever released, but Babcock's wife was a manager at the motel.

Babcock faces three to six years in prison when he's sentenced April 11. He's also expected to be ordered to make restitution.

This isn't Babcock's first run-in with the law. In 2002, he was charged with arson and served time in prison.
