The North Country Arts Council presents “Paint is My Voice” featuring the work of artist Brian Lister.  His display will feature his unique technique of using multiple layers of paint with vibrant colored under tones.

Born and raised in Northern New York, in the heart of the Thousand Islands, Brian paints what is dear to his heart – the endless lakes and rivers, beautiful landscapes and sunsets of the Adirondack Mountain region.

He became seriously involved in art in the 6th grade after reading a book on Michelangelo. In 7th grade, he met his art teacher and lifelong friend, who still drops by several times a year to see what projects Brian is working on.

Some of Brian’s work of color-altered paintings derives from a trip to a blues festival. He notes, “I was looking for a different style that would convey what I was hearing and feeling listening to the music.”

The exhibit opens with a reception from 5 pm to 8 pm Friday, March 2 at Arts on the Square, 52-54 Public Square, Watertown and will be on display from March 2 through March 31. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served at the opening. Admission is free, but a $5 donation to benefit the North Country Arts Council is appreciated.
