Stanley J. Flynn, 90, formerly of Carthage

Stanley J. Flynn, 90, formerly of Carthage, NY, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Birchwood Care Center in Fairfield Township, Ohio. 

Stanley was born on December 26, 1927 in Deferiet, the son of the late John and Mary (Leavenworth) Flynn. He was a 1945 graduate of Carthage High School. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, he received his Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute in 1948.   He married the former Catherine Sochia on July 15, 1950 at the St. James Rectory in Carthage. Catherine died on February 10, 2008.

Stanley worked for Black Clawson in Watertown as a project and sales engineer from 1949 until 1972 when he moved to Ohio. He was employed by Sulzer Escher Wyss in Monroe, Ohio as a regional sales manager, retiring in 1993.

He was a former member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Post # 789 of Carthage.

He is survived by his two sons and their wives: John and Kathy Flynn of Buford, SC and Timothy and Robin Flynn of Westchester, OH, 3 Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by 2 brothers, Harvlin and Orval Flynn, and 4 sisters, Florence Dalton, Anna Dalton, Marjorie Prior and Doris McKenna.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 8 at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home in Carthage with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 8 from 11:00am - 1:00pm.
