Watertown Firefighter Looks To Open Downtown Brewery Soon

A new brewery is getting ready to open its doors on Public Square in downtown Watertown.

Dan Daugherty is the president of the Watertown firefighters union and now he's about to brew his own beers at Boots Brewing Company, located in the Lincoln Building.

The tap room upstairs is furnished with preserved wood from parts of the Lincoln Building. Tables are set up for dining in the back and a bar has been built up front.

Final touches are happening while a state license gets processed for the brewery.

Daugherty says the name Boots Brewing Company has a special meaning behind it.

"From the military to playing rugby where they're not called cleats, they're boots, to firefighter boots, construction boots, it's one of those things that's always been present in my life. So, even our logo itself is the pair of boots I wore during my time in Iraq," he said.

Although the project has been in the works for a couple years, Daugherty says he hopes to start pouring beers to the public in April.
