More Armed Officers Depends On Funding, School Super Says

Watertown's police chief and mayor both support adding armed school resource officers in the Watertown school district.

At a school board meeting Tuesday night, school Superintendent Patti LaBarr told reporters she'll continue talking with Police Chief Charles Donoghue.

Adding another resource officer comes down to finding funding and LaBarr says it's unclear if the state or federal governments will offer more cash to districts to hire more officers.

The district has one resource officer at the high school and a DARE officer at Wiley Intermediate.
