Ogdensburg Murder Victim Shot In Head, Court Papers Say

Posted: Updated:

The man who was shot and killed in Ogdensburg early Saturday morning was shot in the head, court papers say.

Fifty year old Phillip Goolden was at the 711 Jefferson Avenue home of 51 year old Michael Gagnon when he was killed.

Court papers allege Gagnon shot Goolden with a single round from a .30-30 caliber lever-action Marlin-brand rifle.

Gagnon was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Convicted of a felony -- third-degree attempted assault -- in 2003, it's illegal for him to possess a firearm.

Goolden did not live at the home and police haven't said why he was there or what led up to the shooting.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information can call police at 315-393-1555.
