A multi-million-dollar state Department of Transportation project will replace a bridge along what's probably St. Lawrence County's business traffic corridor.
The DOT announced an $8.2 million dollar project to replace a bridge on U.S. Highway 11 in the town of DeKalb.
The bridge goes over a railroad track CSX operates and is between State Route 812 and County Route 19.
The new bridge will have wider shoulders so it will be safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and Amish buggies, DOT officials say.
The contract was awarded to a Troy, N.Y. company.
Work is targeted to be complete by December 2019.
