Collecting Sweet Treats For Soldiers

Collecting Sweet Treats For Soldiers

Posted: Updated:

Potsdam is sweet for soldiers.

Candy bars are piling up at the Potsdam Elks Lodge and in the tool bags at Fosters Collision on Route 11 and at other businesses across the area.

It's the fourth year the Elks Lodge has spearheaded a drive for candy bars for Fort Drum soldiers returning from deployments.

They've collected 36,000 in previous drives. They want to collect 14,000 this year.

“There are a lot of sacrifices people are making for us everyday and this is something anyone can do,” said Mary Charleston, organizer Sweet Treats for Soldiers.

You can drop the candy bars wherever you see boxes at area businesses or at the Elks Lodge.
