Massena Man Enters Plea In Child Rape Case

Posted: Updated:

A 27 year old Massena man has pleaded guilty in connection with the sexual assault of a young girl.

Ernest Pantaleo of 12 Tracy Street was charged in January with first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was accused of raping a 12 year old girl he met online.

In St. Lawrence County Court Friday, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of first-degree attempted rape.

He faces 12 years in prison when he's sentenced in June.

According to Chief Adam Love, Pantaleo met the girl on the social media site Facebook.

Love said the girl snuck out of her home in Moira in January. Pantaleo picked her up and took her back to his place.

According to the chief, the girl's mother discovered her daughter was missing, figured out who her child was with and notified police, who went to Pantaleo's home to get her.

The girl was returned to her mother.
