At least five fire departments have been called out to fight a small forest fire Sunday night, about three-quarters of a mile east of County Road 27 in the Town of Canton.

Traffic is being stopped and then directed between fire trucks and emergency vehicles parked along County Road 27.

As of Sunday night, no structures looked to threatened by the fire.

About 15 firefighters are in the woods fighting a 1 to 2 acre fire in a pine grove, according to Canton Fire Chief Brian McCluskey.

The fire is along the Kip Trail south of the Grasse River.

Much of the equipment is being staged at the St. Lawrence University Field Station, including ATVs which have transported firefighters into the woods.
