Remembering Former Carthage Police Chief

Posted: Updated:

He had a mind like a steel trap. That's one way former Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Lafferty describes former Carthage Village Police Chief Vinnie Frank.

Frank was a Carthage cop for 33 years and chief for 25 of those years. He passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday.

Lafferty had coffee every morning with Chief Frank when Lafferty was a state trooper in Carthage.

"I saw the quality that Vinnie was. He was a straight shooter, he was a good honest man and a great chief," said Lafferty.

Calling hours for Frank will be held Friday from 1 p.m to 3 p.m. at Lundy Funeral Home in Carthage, directly followed by a memorial service.
