Man Swerves To Avoid Deer, Crashes Into Trees

State police said a man was injured in a one-vehicle accident in the town of Rutland Thursday afternoon.

Troopers, Black River Ambulance and Rutland Fire Department were called to Ridge Road at around 1 p.m.

A LifeNet helicopter also responded, but ended up not being needed.

Police said the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer and ended up off the road. The vehicle struck some trees.

According to troopers, the driver complained of neck and back pain and was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.

There's no word on the driver's identity or condition.
