The Watertown Rapids had a Sunday afternoon affair at the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds hosting the Capital City Reds.
The Rapids in search of their 5th straight win and looking to keep their red hot bats rolling in this exhibition. At the bottom of the 1st, the Rapids got on the board. Joshua Bozone hit a sacrifice fly to right field, Andrew Bacon tagged and scored from 3rd, 1-0 Rapids.
Still in the 1st, the Rapids added to their lead as William Hurtin scored on a wild pitch: 2-0 Watertown after 1.
The Rapids fell 14-6 in 7 innings.
On Sunday, the Minnesota Twins flew former Ogdensburg Free Academy pitcher and current University of Hartford hurler Seth Pinkerton to Fort Myers, Florida where, his family says he will have a physical with the team Monday.
If all goes well, he will sign with the Twins. Pinkerton was taken in the 20th round of the MLB draft by the Twins on Wednesday. Pinkerton has been working exclusively out of the bullpen for the University of Hartford, but said on Wednesday that the Twins may have a new role for him.
"As of right now I'm just going be a relief pitcher as I am at school at the University of Hartford -- on the TV screen they had me as a right handed starter," he said. "I had heard rumors that they might potentially at the next level make me a starter, but as of right now I'll still be a reliever."
