Meet Save The River's Interim LeaderPosted: Updated:
His name is John Peach and he has been named the new interim director at Save The River in Clayton.
He's taking over for Lee Willbanks, the former executive director who was with the organization since 2012.
Peach has been around the organization for many years; nearly two decades as an active board member.
"It was easy to join; we're a membership-based organization and I quickly became involved with it," he said.
Peach has advocated for the St. Lawrence River all these years, focusing on major issues like combating invasive species, regulating ballast water and improving the overall quality of the water.
Although Peach says that Save The River does everything it can as an organization to preserve things, there's still work to be done.
"The water levels plan has been approved but there's still efforts on out there to try to modify it especially after the high water levels last year, so we'll have major involvement in that," he said.
Save The River is still in search of a permanent executive director and Peach says the search committee likely won't make that decision until after the summer months.
