Tiernan Ends Stellar High School Career With Home Run

When Madrid-Waddington lost to Fort Plain in the New York State baseball final four, it ended the high school career of an impressive student athlete.

Shane Tiernan closed out an exceptional career at Madrid-Waddington. The multi-sport star hit a home run in his last game for the Yellowjackets.

Baseball has been a lifelong passion.

"The game itself, well, I've been playing baseball my whole life and I played summer ball and a lot of practices," he said. "A lot of people have taught me a lot of things."

Tiernan also performed well in soccer, hockey and basketball, but has a special fondness for soccer.

He was a part of a close-knit unit.

"We have a great group of seniors and our coach, we're really close with him," he said. "So we're like a family, we do everything together, know everyone, we're a tight group, and we just have fun with it."
