Opening Statements Heard In Breault Rape Trial

Posted: Updated:

A jury of 11 women and one man heard opening statements in the St. Lawrence County Court rape trial of Joseph Breault.

The 64 year old is accused of raping a 10 year old more than two decades ago and a 35 year old 12 years later.

Assistant District Attorney Joshua Haberkornhalm told the jury "words matter" in outlining threats he said Breault made against the two women if they ever told anyone.

Defense attorney Edward Narrow told jurors to listen closely as evidence was presented and they would see that the facts would not line up with any of the allegations against his client.
