The 201st year of the Jefferson County Fair kicked off Tuesday with "Emergency Responders Day."
The Watertown fire department, Jefferson County Emergency Management and the sheriff's office were all in attendance at the fair Tuesday.
"It's just a chance to say thank you to the responders," said Bob Simpson, fair president.
The weather was decent for much of the day, and a crowd turned out to eat and try the rides on the midway.
Tuesday's theme is "Monsignor McCarthy Day," named after the late Monsignor Robert McCarthy, known as the "carney priest" for his love of fairs, carnivals and the people who work them.
The fair has free admission all week, and is open from 10 AM to 9:30 PM through Saturday, with the fair closing at 6:30 PM Sunday.
We'll have live reports from the fair this week.
