Fire Destroys Home In Town Of Alexandria

Posted: Updated:

A house in the town of Alexandria is destroyed after a fire broke out late Thursday night.

The home on St. Lawrence Park Place was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene around 11 p.m.

Fire officials say no one was inside the rental property and that the owners live in Tampa, Florida.

Firefighters from six departments were able to get the blaze under control within an hour. Jefferson County fire officials were on the scene early Friday morning trying to figure out what happened.

"The cause and origin team from Jefferson County is here doing a full investigation of the structure, trying to determine a cause," deputy fire coordinator Bruce Reome said. "The cause is yet to be determined."

Officials say the house is a total loss.
