Posted: Updated:

Close to $19,000 was raised Saturday to help area kids on the autism spectrum..

Over 450 people walked through downtown Canton's village park for the Autism Awareness Walk.

The walk benefits St. Lawrence NYSARC. With more people and more money raised than last year, that means more help for area kids and their families.

"It goes for education, it goes to support family members, it goes for activities and kids and young people on the Autism spectrum and it also helps to make sure that we can keep their programs active and running strong," said Michelle Quinell-Gayle, asst. executive director  of St. Lawrence NYSARC.

7 News This Evening Anchor Jeff Cole was the host of the walk. 7 News is a sponsor of the Autism Awareness Walk in Canton.
