Watertown Housing Programs On Hold Due To Glitches

Posted: Updated:

Software glitches have put Watertown city housing programs on hold.

The deadline for landlords to register their properties was July 1. But since then the city hasn't been able to process the applications because of software and manpower issues.

The software issues have also put the city's zombie home task force on hold.

The software is supposed to help officials identify and deal with vacant and abandoned homes in the city. Now, task force officials are moving forward despite the software issues.

"We are moving forward with that, sort of around the Codes software issue. The codes software is still being looked at as a potential long term to do it but we are looking at alternatives to using that," said City Assessor Brian Phelps.

The software was bought with a state grant.
