Woman Issues Word Of Warning About Possible Scams

Posted: Updated:

There has been an outpouring of support for the families of the victims of Saturday's fatal limousine accident in Schoharie.

There's also a reminder that you have to be careful when donating online.

Jamie Ecker, who says she's a friend of the King family, set up a Facebook fundraiser which has raised more than $250,000 in two days.

Members of the King family, which included sisters Mary Dyson, Allison King, Abby Jackson and Amy Steenburg, were killed in the crash.

Ecker tells 7 News that she has received word from some people online that scammers are trying to take advantage by setting up fake fundraisers, taking her picture and asking for things like Amazon gift cards.

Ecker says she wants to warn people about potential scams.

Her plan is to close her own Facebook fundraiser before midnight and has been working out the details to give the $250,000  to the King family.
