New Location for St. Lawrence County's Craft, Food & Wine ShowPosted: Updated:
Good things are popping at Maxcy Hall at SUNY Potsdam. It's the 2018 Craft, Food & Wine Show put on by the the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
“My gosh, the products here are fantastic and Christmas shopping and luckily this year they did it early,” said
Kamie Compo, Craft, Food & Wine Show shopper.
They expect as many as 5,000 to shop at more than 100 booths. New wine and spirit vendors have showed up and a lot of traditional and non-traditional craftsman.
“The artisan movement is really growing. And I think people are looking for non-traditional, handcrafted gifts. And this serves as a one-stop shop,” said Chad Graham, The Soap Guys & Co. co-owner.
For more than 30 years the show has served as an unofficial kickoff to the Christmas holiday season.
“This will definitely be a cornerstone of our Christmas holiday sales,” said Graham.
In the past, the event has been held at Cheel Arena on the Clarkson campus. But construction there forced it to move to SUNY Potsdam this year. Same show, different place.
The craft and food fair stands out for a lot of reasons, but one is just the sheer variety of local ag products for sale.
There's maple cotton candy, meats locally grown, butchered and cured, ten wineries and more. The show is open until 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 4 on Saturday.
