Friday Sports: Indian River Beats Carthage At Carrier Dome ClashPosted: Updated:
It was the Section 3 Class A football final with a north country flair Saturday night as Indian River met Carthage at the Carrier Dome. The Warriors enter this contest undefeated while the Comets stand at 7 and 2. Indian River beat Carthage in regular season and looking to see if they could repeat.
In the first quarter, Kwazsi Gaddis scored for Indian River, a 33 yard return for the touchdown. Indian River on top 6-0. Carthage had a chance to score but a fumble gives Indian River possession. In the second quarter, Gaddis takes it in from 9 yards out. He expands the Warriors' lead to 12-0. Indian River continued on to win 33-21.
Gaddis was named Most Outstanding player for Indian River, Jake Demko for Carthage.
Congratulations to Sarah Kilburn of Watertown, the talented swimmer has qualified for States in both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. She accomplished the feats Friday at the Section 3 meet at Nottingham. She set a school record in the 100 Freestyle, breaking the mark once held by Aubrey Kettrick.
