NORWOOD - A Celebration of Life gathering for 59 year old Garry W. “Butch” LaCoss, a resident of 1 Maple Street, Norwood, will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Norwood American Legion.
Butch passed away Monday afternoon, November 5, 2018 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Butch is survived by his loving companion of 18 years, Simone Rodwell, Norwood; a daughter, Rae Collins, Massena; two grandchildren, Christopher Austin and Devin Collins, Massena; his mother, Donna LaCoss, Canton; three sisters, Sandra and Donald Woodcock, Rensselaer Falls; Pammy Dean, Canton and Patricia Ladison, Canton as well as several nieces and nephews.
Butch is also survived by his extended family Shawn Hicken, North Carolina; Jonathan and Stephanie Gilman, Massena; Jeannette Spicer and Cuza Gales, Norfolk; Simone Wolf, Colton; Ashley Wolf, James Wolf, Dylan Spicer, Tanner Hicken and Kiley Bodway.
Butch was pre-deceased by his father, Garry J. LaCoss, and Austin Hicken.
Born in Potsdam, NY on June 21, 1959 to Garry J. and Donna McDonald LaCoss, Butch worked as a laborer in the construction industry and was also self-employed. He worked in Texas previously and lastly, worked for Ritchie Brothers Construction in Gouverneur.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing as he was a member of the Palmer Sportsman Club in Parishville. Butch was also a member of the Sons of the Legion in Norwood, being the active chaplin.
