The Fishcap Report, August 29 - September 5
This week's fishing forecast...
Salmon converging in eastern basin. Fishing fantastic. Find salmon in 90 feet of water, suspended at 81 feet. Flashers and flies with green dot working best.
Find walleye around Charity Shoals, Galloo Island. Use deep-diving crank baits, such as thundersticks, reef runners.
Walleyes in narrows near Alexandria Bay and off shoals near Clayton, in 110 to 120 feet of water. Use jigging spoons, one ounce or heavier, jigging vertically right off the bottom.
15- to 16-inch walleyes and 12- to 14-inch smallmouth bass above the dam in Dexter. Spinners or medium running crank baits working best.
Salmon already making their way to hatchery in Altmar. Most readily caught in estuary. Steelheads and brown trout following the salmon; best baits are egg sacs.
