Dr. Ryan F. Schmit, 1993 Gouverneur High School Graduate, has recently published his first book, The Beautiful Dismal Woods: Short Stories from the Adirondacks published by Clay Bridges Publishing and Communications of Troy, Ohio.
Ryan just completed his first book signing at Borders in Oneonta, NY. He is currently visiting the North Country. You can meet Dr. Schmit at the University Bookstore, 39 Market Street Potsdam, New York on October 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM for a book signing.

Dr. Ryan Schmit was born in Walton New York and raised in Gouverneur, New York. He developed his love of the outdoors while growing up and exploring the beautiful Adirondacks. He attended SUNY Morrisville, where he earned AAS in Engineering Science. He attended Clarkson University, earning a BS in Aeronautical Engineering and continued on to earn his MS and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. For the past seven years he has worked in the Air Vehicles Directorate within the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
