CU Harriers Put in Strong Showing

Junior Alex Benway (Queensbury, NY) and freshman Catherine Zarnofsky (Glenville, NY) led a strong showing for the Clarkson University Cross Country teams at the Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational on Saturday.

Benway led the Golden Knights Men’s team to a first-place finish by winning the 8k run with a time of 27:28.4. Zarnofsky placed fourth in the women’s 5k race with a time of 22:54.1

The Clarkson Men posted 28 points in the 10-team field, followed by Paul Smiths 81 points. Freshman Dan Fritz (Cicero, NY) was the Knights’ second top runner with a fourth-place time of 28:39.0.

The Clarkson Won came in second out of 10 teams with 54 points, behind winner Ithaca’s 25 points. Junior Maureen Hill (Latham, NY) finished in eighth place (23:37.4) as the Green and Gold’s second leading runner.
