With three wins in four games for the third consecutive weekend, the Clarkson University Baseball team moved to 9-3 overall in the Liberty League, and David Kinney (Mexico, NY) and Bryan Chudy (Goshen, NY) each were rewarded with conference weekly awards on Monday thanks to their performances over the weekend.
Junior David Kinney, named Liberty League Co-Performer of the Week for the second straight week, batted .444 with a .722 slugging percentage in a 3-1 weekend for Clarkson. In the first game of the set against Union, he pitched 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief to pick up the victory as he hit a walk-off grand slam. For the weekend, he scored five runs, had two doubles and a home run. On the season, Kinney is hitting .386 with 20 RBIs and ranks in the top five in the Liberty League in 12 different categories.
Sophomore Bryan Chudy, selected as Liberty League Co-Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season, was one of two Clarkson pitchers to throw complete-game shutouts against Union. The righthander allowed only three hits (two on infield singles) and struck out seven with no walks, allowing only a scant .130 average. Chudy is 4-1 on the campaign, ranking second in the league in victories.
