Project Linus is a national nonprofit organization which collects and distributes handmade blankets to children in need. The St. Lawrence County Chapter of Project Linus is announcing its first “Town Squares Challenge”. The challenge is to help bring awareness of Project Linus while engaging towns in St. Lawrence County in a friendly competition. Which town can donate the most squares to use for a future “Make-A-Blanket Day”? “Town” refers to areas considered as villages and cities as well however squares will only be accepted by those that live in St. Lawrence County. The challenge began June 1st and will run until October 1st. Squares must be either 8 inches by 8 inches or 12 inches by 12 inches. They can be knitted, crocheted or be a square piece of fabric. Be as creative as you want with the square or keep it simple. At a later date, volunteers will be needed to help attach the squares together during the “Make-A-Blanket Day”. Mail squares to: St. Lawrence County Project Linus, P.O. Box 82 Massena NY 13662.
