Sky on Fire - Amazing St Lawrence Sunset

At the Ogdensburg city docks on the cool evening of June 26 2012, a gorgeous orange sky quickly turned into an amazing red sky. As the sun got closer to setting, it appeared as if the sky itself was on fire, an inferno to be exact. Making the scene even better was the relatively calm water of the St. Lawrence River which beautifully reflected the sky above it.

Many spectators looked on at the scene, some from their neighboring houses, others from inside their vehicles parked at the docks. Several people were out snapping away with their cameras or cell phones to record the amazing scene.

There seemed to be a constant flow of cars pulling in at the docks, some passed by and left. But many chose to pull in and stay to take in the scene. It is really no surprise though, as for many locals, the city docks is a hub in which to gather and look on at the gorgeous sunsets we experience every evening.

But on this evening however, the sunset was truly a sight to see for all who witnessed it!

My husband and I had been in Massena and were amazed at the spectacular sunset. There had been some rain earlier and we viewed a gorgeous rainbow for the distance between Potsdam and Canton. At times there was trace of a double rainbow.
