Rhonda's FooteWorks welcomes SERENA

Rhonda’s FooteWorks welcomes Serena Bartholomew to its Watertown studio, where she will teach Level III and IV technique.
Serena began dancing as soon as she could walk, age 2. She began learning the basics of ballet and tap. Her fascination and interest in dance only grew from there. She expanded into Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Pointe, African Fusion, Tahitian and anything else she could absorb. Around age 12 Serena began competing at the local dance competitions and nationals whenever possible. The small studio in Gardnerville, NV took their dancers to every competition and convention offered in the Northern Nevada region. Dupree, Jump, Thunderstruck, Spotlight and I Love Dance were only a few that were yearly visitors to Nevada and Northern California. Around age 16, Serena found an interest in teaching those around her. She began with teaching Hip Hop and grew to love sharing what she knew in Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Body Conditioning; this allowed her to beginning sending her own pieces to the same competitions she grew up in with including All About Dance and Dance Visions. At age 17, Serena attended the Dance Unlimited Summer Fest convention, a summer camp with artists from the Edge Performing Arts Center and Millennium Dance in Los Angeles. While dancing at this convention Serena was awarded a one week scholarship to the Edge to train and take classes with Pre -Professionals. Serena continued to teach and perform with All About Dance while earning her Associates of Arts Degree. At 21, Serena moved to Las Vegas to study at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in dance and stage design and production. Here, she was inspired by a more artistic approach to dance and learning how the technical side of the stage worked. While working through two years at UNLV she danced with a small reparatory company, Nevada Repertory Dance Theater, where the founder allowed her to work with other artists and create her own statements about dance. Now, Serena has transferred to the State University of New York at Potsdam to finish her Bachelors of Arts degree in dance with a minor in Stage Design elements and a Bachelors degree in Philosophy. Her future plans include owning her own dance studio and also focusing on entertainment law.
