Local dancers had the unique opportunity to study with world-famous Sean McLeod in Watertown on February 16th.
Mr. McLeod taught Jr. and Sr. level workshops on the stage at Immaculate Heart Central School where he introduced them to his Modern technique and focused on dance and body awareness.
Mr. McLeod has traveled the world teaching and performing dance. He believes that dance brings freedom and empowerment to all who enjoy it. Sean McLeod is the founder and director of the New York State Institute of Dance at SUNY Purchase, and the director of the Kaleidoscope Modern Dance Company out of Auburn, N.Y.
At the end of the event, Mr. McLeod chose Robyn Scraper, a Senior Company dancer from Rhonda's FooteWorks, to receive a full scholarship to the New York State Dance Festival in Summer '13. The $1,500.00 scholarship includes two weeks of study with some of the major names in dance.
The workshop was sponsored by Rhonda's FooteWorks, 89 Public Square.
