RFW dancers to dance in showcase
Dancers from Rhonda's FooteWorks will be in New York City March 20th through 23rd to perform in the Kat Wildish Showcase at the Alvin Ailey Theater. The seven dancers and one instructor from the Watertown studio will perform a jazz routine and a tap routine choreographed by Broadway veteran and well known choreographer, Tony Bradford. Mr. Bradford visited the studio last weekend and taught the dancers, age 9 through 25, the complex routines. The dancers from Rhonda's FooteWorks will perform with dancers from a studio in Ohio and Mr. Bradford's company. The dancers will arrive late Thursday and rehearse most of the day Friday. They will perform in three shows; Friday evening, Saturday matinee and Saturday evening. Sunday, they will participate in a dance intensive workshop with Kat Wildish before returning home. This unique and exciting opportunity stems from studio director, Rhonda Foote's long standing friendship with Tony Bradford. Says Ms. Foote, "I saw Tony post this opportunity on Facebook, and could not resist finding out how my dancers could get involved. The chance to perform in the Alvin Ailey Theater is incredible. The work they are doing with Mr. Bradford gives them a taste of what a dance career would be like. And, meeting Kat Wildish will be a wonderful opportunity, also." (Kat Wildish will be the cover artist for February's edition of the nationally acclaimed Dance Teacher Magazine). Mr. Bradford was so impressed with the dancers he met at Rhonda's FooteWorks that he will be extending scholarship invitations to several of the studio's company dancers to attend a two week intensive in August, 2014 in New York City. Performers from Rhonda's FooteWorks in the Kat Wildish Showcase are: Studio Instructor, Rachael Giargiano (Watertown); Company dancers, Madisson Yauchler (Watertown), Robyn Scraper (Copenhagen), Shyla Smith (Watertown), Andromeda Elliott (Gouverneur), Juliet Kearns (Evans Mills), Ashley Assali (Watertown) and Max Amos (Copenhagen).
