For the last 8 years or so there has been a 4th of July parade at Cedar Point State Park in Clayton. A few regular campers got together to bring attention to "what is the 4th of July about?" to the kids that camp in park. Every year the same campers come back at the same time and meet the people that met last year or years before. So, a few of us decided to Have a Parade! Over the years its become a very large event! In 2008 there were over 150 kids in the parade and over 30 adults. We all decorate for the 4th with Red, White and Blue everything from flags to face painting.... the campers that aren't in the parade now but their chairs out along the road to get a "good seat"... this year we hope to have even more in the parade and invite everyone, local people, news media and anyone that would like join in in the fun. Its all volunteer.. the park or the state has nothing to do with it but lets us have fun, they even get in on it!! I've put up a few pictures from last year but it doesn't show the depth of what we do there... we have had people come in and play music for us, all patriotic of course, we have a local singer that sings at the end of the parade for the whole park and we have another person that is working a snow cone machine for this years parade. Come and join us!
A Happy Camper from Cedar Point State Park!!
