POTSDAM, NY- SUNY Potsdam's women’s soccer team scored early in the first half in a tough defensive battle before adding two more second half goals as they defeated Hilbert College 3-0 on Sunday to extend their season record to 4-0.
Cortney Poirier (Moira/Brushton-Moira) put Potsdam on the board early in the second half after having her previous shot bounce off of the crossbar. It was her fifth goal of the year. Liz Bazzano (Peru/Peru) and Heather Johnson (Ogdensburg/Heuvelton) added goals in the second half to seal the win for the Bears.
Sarah Casey (Potsdam/Potsdam) had one save in 70:53 of time in goal. Lisa Bates (Ballston Spa/Galway) played 19:07 and did not record a save. Mary Zinni made six saves for Hilbert. Potsdam lead Hilbert in shots 15-4 and Hilbert had only one shot on goal.
The Bears will host SUNYIT on Wednesday at 7 pm.
