Katelyn Ptolemy, a veteran standout on the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team, and a pair of incoming Golden Knight freshmen, Erica Howe and Jamie Lee Rattray, are participating in Canada’s National Women’s Under-22 Team Strength and Conditioning Camp that is taking place from May 25-30 at the University of Calgary.
Invitations were made based on evaluations done throughout the 2009-10 season by Hockey Canada’s regional scouts and the coaching staffs of Canada’s National Women’s Team, National Women’s Under-22 Team and National Women’s Under-18 Team. Those who were chosen to attend the off-ice camp were evaluated while they played with their club teams in-season, as well as at various national camps and events.
Ptolemy, who will enter her junior campaign for the Green and Gold this upcoming season, has been a mainstay on the Golden Knights blueline the past two seasons. She has played in every Clarkson game the past two years, helping the Green and Gold post one of the best defensive efforts in the nation. Through 76 games, the Dinsmore, SASK native has recorded 10 assists and a plus/minus rating of +9. Ptolemy helped Canada's U-22 team defeat the United States in a three-game series in late-August last summer.
Howe, a goaltender from Orleans, ONT, and Rattray, a forward from Kanata, ONT, played this past season for the Ottawa Senators Intermediate AA team. Both have been involved in several Canada National team programs.
