	<title><![CDATA[OP WARNER AWARDS ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLARS:]]></title>

				<description><![CDATA[This past Friday, April 26, the Greater Watertown Pop Warner League held a banquet in honor of their All-American Scholars.   The recipients are either football players or cheerleaders from one of the twelve associations in the league.   A 96% average and exemplary character are required to win the award.  All-American nominees that are currently in fifth grade or higher are also considered for recognition at the regional and national levels where they have the chance of receiving a cash scholarship.  

The GWPWL would like to congratulate this year’s All-American Scholar recipients:

Michael Briggs of Thousand Islands, Eastern Region and Second Team National All-American.

	<title><![CDATA[Jefferson Jaguars Compete in Forest, ON]]></title>

				<description><![CDATA[Back in December 2012, the Jefferson Jaguars Pee Wee Team competed in and won the Regional International Silver Stick tournament in Rome, NY, which qualified them to move on to the International Silver Stick Finals Tournament in Forest, Ontario.

Over the weekend of January 11, 12 and 13, the Jefferson Jaguars Pee Wee Team played in the International Silver Stick Finals Tournament in Forest, Ontario.  The Jaguars won all of their games to qualify for the Championship game, facing teams from Indiana, Colorado and Canada.  All of the teams participating in the Finals tournament were winners of their respective regional tournaments.  The Jaguars ultimately lost by a slim margin of 2-1 in the Championship game against Ottawa West, but are extremely proud of their accomplishments and being named "Finalist" in this competition.    The team wishes to thank local sponsors that helped with the cost of attending the tournament.

When the Wizards were introduced, the Grasshoppers got to run out on the field with the players.  Thank you Wizards for spending time with our boys! 				<description><![CDATA[The Watertown YMCA hosted their 2012 Lollipop Classic Gymnastics meet on April 15th with over 100 gymnasts competing for both individual and All Around titles.  Gymnasts came from seven gyms throughout the North Country including Joan's Gymnastics, Central Square, and Oneonta  ranging from level 3-8; as well as, optional levels and competed on four events - floor, vault, uneven bars, and balance beam.  This was the last meet of the season the Watertown girls were eligible to  qualify for their State, Regional and National competitions.

Placements in the All Around category which is calculated by adding the scores the gymnast received from each of the four individual events were as follows:

In Level 4 ages 6-8, Lauren Anderson placed 1st and Hanna Overholt took 2nd.  Liya Mace and Tiara Wilson both took second in their respective age groups.

In Level 5 ages 7-9, Haley Moses placed 1st and Giavanna Doldo took 2nd.  Level 5 age 11, Riley Catlin placed 1st.  Level 5 age 12-15, Allison Moore placed 1st.

In Level 6 ages 8-10, Kristen Sullivan placed 1st, Brynn Richmond 2nd, Hunter Czajkowski 3rd, and Mikayla Bobkoskie 5th.  Level 6 ages 11-13, Mackenzie Shortt Jobson placed 1st.

In Level 7 ages 11&12, Calista Pelletier placed 1st and Jackie Peterson took 2nd.  Level 7 ages 13-16, Courtney LaFlesh placed 1st and Chelsea Randle took 2nd.

In Level 8 ages 13-15, Caroline Frogozo placed 2nd.

We would like to congratulate all of the Watertown girls for a job well done and ask that you please join us in wishing them luck as they travel to Brockport, NY April 28th & 29th for their State competition!]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[The YMCA Gymnastics League Championships were held here in Watertown on March 17,2012 with over 160 gymnasts competing in levels 3-8.  Girls from Glens Falls, Cortland, Saratoga and Oneonta were among the gymnasts competing on floor, vault, uneven bars and the balance beam.  Awards were given out both individually and as a team at each of the levels.  The Watertown Twisting Starz’ level six team girls took home first place and pictured from left to right are:  Mikayla Bobkoskie, Hunter Czajkowski, Brynn Richmond, Kristen Sullivan, and Mackenzie Shortt Jobson.

The team went undefeated in all five games and was led by head coach Michael Goodwin and assistant coaches Jeff Wiley and Shawn Swears to a 3 - 2 victory in the championship gold medal game defeating the Junior Flyers from Philadelphia, PA in the 1980 Olympic Arena.  Congratulations Rapids!  We are so proud of you!!  ]]></description>
