There are some new “Movers and Shakers” at Fort Drum!
The Pretty Hard Corps Dance Company is comprised of student members and a performance troupe (Kirsten Hancock, Hoonam Kim, Heather Williams and Sara Wallace). The company owner and troupe director, Kirsten Hancock (Krisenna), is a certified Hot Pot ITS (Improvisational Tribal Style) instructor.

She has been dancing since the age of 3 and has been a professional performer and choreographer for numerous years. She has been a military wife for eight years and has first hand knowledge of the unique challenges military families face.

Kirsten is convinced that the ITS dance style surpasses the usual healing effects of many other dance forms and credits the creator of ITS, Amy Sigil (Director of Unmata) and her original ITS instructors, Jenna Harder and Christina Gonzales of Shimmy Shakti Studios, with introducing a powerfully therapeutic way to cope with deployments and other taxing situations military wives face. .

In her words, “Hot Pot ITS is a system that presents experienced dancers and novices alike with the types of challenging moments that will take you from heart thumping to fist pumping! The system requires you to be present and connect with other dancers as the group creates an artistic interpretation of music. There are opportunities to be bold, creative and expressive if you know the rules and ways to incorporate dynamics.”

The Mission Statement on the website states:
It is my goal to share the magic of ITS with military wives around the nation. This style of dance has changed my life. It has been an escape from the stress of military life, and the dance community has been my strength and support system when my husband is called away.
Pretty Hard Corps Dance will be hosting dance wellness sessions at no charge to military wives. We will be going over intro ITS moves and technique, but the focus will be on the fun and social bonds that naturally occur through learning this beautiful dance style.

Rhonda's FooteWorks will salute its class of 2013 graduating dancers in its Friday, May 17th recital. There will be a 5:00 p.m. reception in the lobby of the Dulles State Office Building, followed by award presentations and a slide show at 6:00 p.m. The curtain will rise on a special recital featuring the graduating seniors and company dancers receiving fond farewells as they will be moving over the summer. The show also features Rhonda's FooteWorks reknowned Outreach Company performances.
Rhonda's FooteWorks graduating seniors are:
Bethany Gore is a senior at Gouverneur High School. She has been dancing since age 3. Bethany has been dancing with Rhonda since she was seven years old. Her favorite styles are ballet, lyrical, jazz, and modern. Bethany co- choreographed her school’s middle school musical of "Once Upon This Island". She also taught dance classes to 3 to 7 year olds from July to February in the Gouverneur community as part of Rhonda’s FooteWorks community outreach program. In the summer of 2012, Bethany attended the Rebecca Kelly Ballet Intensive study at Potsdam College. She has been a member of the Rhonda’s FooteWorks Outreach Company since age 7, and is graduating as a performer with the Elite Company level. Bethany is also on her school's track team. Bethany will be attending Wells College with a major in Bio- Chem and a minor in Dance. She then plans to go to graduate school to study Forensics.

Rachel Sophia Sousa is a senior at Sackets Harbor Central School. In the fall, she plans to attend Marymount Manhattan College in New York City to major in Theatre Performance and minor in Musical Theatre. Rachel has a vast musical theater history in our community as a member of Ticia Marra’s Stage Notes. She became a dancer at Rhonda’s FooteWorks to become a “Triple Threat” and worked hard in the past year to achieve that goal. Some of Rachel’s favorite RFW memories include Access Broadway 2012, where she and Madi Draper were named Broadway Stars and were awarded Access Broadway Workshop Professional Scholarships and being invited to sing at RFW events. She will recall “being fierce” with Miss Bree, and all the times that the RFW girls helped her grow as a new dancer. She would like to give a special thank you to Rhonda Foote and her staff for a memorable dance season.
Maeve McCullouch is a senior at Carthage High School. She has been dancing since she was 7 years old. She started dancing with Rhonda again last year and is happy to be part of the RFW Family again. She also enjoys dancing with the Carthage Dance Company. She has also been in various productions throughout High School. Maeve will be attending Siena College this fall for liberal arts. She is going to miss her dance family, but will always remember the memories and laughs shared with everyone!
Maria Bufalini is a senior at Watertown High School and has danced with Rhonda's FooteWorks for many years. She began dance with Joanne's Northern Lights at age four. Over the years she has taken ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, and gymnastics (but tap is her favorite!) . Maria has gone to the Access Broadway Competition three times and is grateful to have had so many learning and performing opportunities, thanks to Rhonda. She is a member of the National Honor Society at WHS, plays the piano and alto saxophone, and has been a member of the All-State Jazz, All-East, and All-National vocal honor ensembles. She is also an accomplished ice skater. She would like to thank her family and Rhonda for all of their love and support. Maria will be attending Syracuse University in the fall to major in the BFA Musical Theater program.
Cheyenne Shupp is a senior at Carthage High School. She enjoys theatre and dance. Throughout High School she has been in various theatre productions. Some of her favorite productions include "The Drowsy Chaperone" and "Little Women". She has only been dancing for the past two years with Rhonda's and also with the Carthage Dance Company. After high school she will be majoring in theatre at Messiah College.
