TV Dinner: caper-tomato salsa & blue cheese bacon spread

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - It's Memorial Day weekend and, for many, that means cookouts.

Chef Chris Manning shows us two ways to top your grilled meats. One is a Caper-Tomato Salsa and the other is a Blue Cheese Bacon Spread.

They're both tasty and easy to make. You can see for yourself in the video.

Caper-Tomato Salsa

  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green onion, minced
  • 1/4 cup sliced ripe olives
  • 1/4 cup sliced ripe olives
  • 2 medium tomatoes, finely diced
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients together and chill at least an hour.

Serve with grilled chicken breasts or chips

Blue Cheese Bacon Spread

  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green onion, minced
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • Salt & pepper to taste.

Mix all ingredients together. Use to top steaks and burgers.
