WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - When U.S. Army T/5 Rishel “Rick” White was incarcerated in a German POW camp during World War II, prisoners were fed a daily diet of rutabaga soup.
Occasionally, he said, some stringy horse meat would be thrown in.
So, when a farmer friend would give him rutabagas after the war, he didn’t think it was much of a treat.
