FORT DRUM, N.Y. (WWNY) - The 10th Mountain Division honors its own.
Fort Drum announced its “best warriors” earlier this month.
Two soldiers in the 91st Military Police Battalion were honored.
Corporal Noah Slabaugh and Specialist Joel Boulden were selected as noncommissioned officer of the year and soldier of the year, respectively.
The winners were picked among 11 finalists in a series of fitness challenges over the course of three days.
“The main gist of it is bringing back knowledge and the meat and potatoes from learning stuff like this back to the line unit, back to the company, back to the soldiers that don’t know it,” said Slabaugh.
“That’s the thing, being resilient. Especially as a soldier, we’re called to...whatever comes our way, be ready to go and answer that call,” said Boulden.
The honorees were selected by the division command sergeant major. Both soldiers will go on to compete at Fort Bragg in North Carolina next month.
