Truck, ambulance with patient collide

RUTLAND, N.Y. (WWNY) - Jefferson County sheriff's deputies say an ambulance driver should have used more caution while passing a pickup truck it collided with Sunday.

Deputies say the ambulance, driven by 25 year old Benjamin Smith of Adams and owned by Carthage Area Rescue, had its lights and siren on when it passed the pickup, which was waiting to make a turn from State Route 126 to County Route 162 in the town of Rutland.

Deputies say the driver of the truck, 23 year old Jordan Bush of Castorland, didn’t see or hear the ambulance before making the turn.

The patient in the ambulance was not injured and no major injuries were reported.

The patient was taken to Samaritan Medical Center by another ambulance.
