GLEN PARK, N.Y. (WWNY) - Watertown police said the body of a man has been recovered from the Black River.
It’s believed to be the body of the man who was seen jumping off the Mill Street bridge last Monday morning.
Police said workers at the Glen Park hydroelectric plant found the body of a man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, at around 7 a.m.
According to police, the man died in an apparent suicide, but the case is under investigation.
The man’s name was withheld because police are in the process of notifying family members. Police said the man has an apartment in Watertown.
Last Monday, police, fire, and ambulance crews searched the Black River following a report that someone had jumped off the Mill Street bridge into the Black River. A helicopter from Fort Drum was also called in, but nothing was found.
The search, which started around 5:30 a.m., was called off shortly after 7 a.m.
Police said the river banks and the racks at the Glen Park hydo facility were being checked daily.
