Tractor-trailer crashes into vehicles stopped to help alleged drunk driver
WATSON, N.Y. (WWNY) - An alleged drunk driver who rolled his vehicle in the town of Watson Monday was the apparent cause of a multi-vehicle pileup.
Lewis County sheriff's deputies say three other vehicles stopped to check on 55 year old Andrew Johnson of Heuvelton after they saw his overturned vehicle off Snell Road.
That’s when a southbound tractor-trailer ran into the stopped vehicles. Two children inside one of them suffered minor injuries and were evaluated at Lewis County General Hospital.
Deputies say a chemical test revealed Johnson had a .28 blood alcohol content, which is three-and-a-half times the legal limit of .08.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, imprudent speed, and failure to keep right.
Johnson will face the charges in Watson town court at a later date.
