Rapids shut out Adirondack to bounce back from losing streak

Rapids defeat Adirondack

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Watertown Rapids halted a two-game losing skid when they hosted Adirondack Wednesday night in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League West Division battle.

The Rapids got on the board in the bottom of the 1st. Drake Smith hit a sacrafice fly to left center. Derek Kasperzyk tags and scores from 3rd. The score: 1-0 Rapids.

Still in the 1st, Evan Harold singled back up the middle. Tony Socci crosses the plate. Now it's 2-0 Watertown.

A few batters later, Khale Showers hit a blooper to right for a base hit. Harold scored on the hit, leaving it 3-0 Rapids.

Then it's Danny Di Marzo drawing a bases-loaded walk and forcing home Vinny DeRubeis from 3rd. Now it's 4-0 Watertown after 1 inning.

There was a scary moment at the bottom of the 2nd when a pitch hit Socci in the helmet. He stayed in the game.

Later in the inning, Harold blooped a single just out of the reach of the shortstop. Drake Smith scores, making it 5-0 Watertown.

Then its Jonathan Catapano with the infield single and Socci races home to make it 6-0.

Brandon Taylor hit a sacrifice fly to right field. Harold tagged and scored from 3rd. The second inning ended with a 7-0 score.

James Krick would pitch 4 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, walking 2 and fanning 3 as the Rapids beat Adirondack 9-0.
