LaFargeville’s softball team hopes to bring home school’s first state title

LaFargeville heading to state Final Four

LAFARGEVILLE, N.Y. (WWNY) - LaFargeville's softball team is one of three north country high school sports teams in search of state titles this weekend.

It's the lone Frontier League team left standing in state playoff action.

The Lady Red Knights would like a perfect end to a perfect season when they meet Deposit in the state Class D softball semifinals at Moreau Park in South Glens Falls on Saturday.

Lafargeville enters the game 20-0 on the season, reaching their first-ever state Final Four with a 12-0 win over Edwards-Knox in the state quarterfinals at Carrier Park in Syracuse.

"No matter what, as long as we go in and play the ball that we've been playing, we think it's going to be a great game," coach Danielle Wallace said. "Obviously, we'd like to come out on top."

You can hear more from the coach in the video.

For the nine seniors on the team, this is their last chance at a state title and making it to the final weekend of the 2019 season is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.

Players Rachel Davis, Emma Timerman, and Charisma Demarse share their thoughts in the video.

After falling short of making it to the state Final Four in 2005, 2006, and 2016, the Lady Red Knights finally made it over the hump this year and will be looking to bring home the school’s first state title.
