Larries are 2 games away from state Class C softball title

St. Lawrence Central softball off to state Final Four

BRASHER FALLS, N.Y. (WWNY) - It’s off to the state Final Four for the St. Lawrence Central softball team after a 2-out, 2-run rally in the state Class C quarterfinals on Saturday.

The Larries are looking to continue that magic as they face off against Edison saturday morning at Moreau Park.

“They’re a solid team, they’ve got good pitching, they’ve got some good speed, they have lefties’ which we don’t see a lot of up here in the north country,” Coach Tim Brown said.

"So, it'll be something new for us to try to tackle."

The Larries were almost perfect this season, posting a 14-0 record in Northern Athletic Conference play and 18-1 overall.

The players say that's a direct result of the philosophy each and every team member has.

Players Leah Francis, Makiah Ramsdell, and Kelsy Waite explain in the video.

With the team just two wins away from a state title, both players and coaches say community support has been key to their success.

"It's been a pleasure to watch how they've congratulated the girls, they put some signs up ion town," Cook said. "A lot of people are congratulating us in school, which is very nice and it's just an incredible feeling to be a part of it."

And with a pair of wins on Saturday, the Larries will bring home a state title on the softball diamond -- and more memories to last a lifetime.
