Horseback riding Father’s Day tradition for Copenhagen Family
WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) -
Savanah is the horse that Bryanna Malbouf and her family own and show around the north country. Malbouf said her mom got her and her family involved in this sport.
“We’ve always been into it ever since I was a kid. From the minute I could walk I was probably on a horse too,” said Bryanna.
The Copenhagen family has been coming to the Black River Valley Horse Association Silver Dollar shows for 10 years.
She said mom got her into riding, but Sunday was about her biggest supporter - Her father, Pat.
“Every year its a tradition for my dad to come to this horse show and he gets to help and be our support system whether its filling the water buckets for us or just being the extra hand we need," Bryanna said.
Along with celebrating dads, the horse show is also celebrating 30 years..
President of the association Dawn Lelakowski said its families like the Malboufs that has made the past 30 years so special.
“I absolutely adore my friends that I come here with," Lelakowski said. "Thats half of the show the family and friends that share all this with us.”
The next event is in July and event organizers and families say they hope this continues another 30 years.
Pat said he wouldn’t want to spend fathers day any other way. His favorite part?
“Everything. Being with the kids is what I enjoy,” said Pat.
Celebrating two traditions - built on generations of family.
